Thakur said that during the four years of service under the Agneepath scheme, Agneepath would get around Rs 20 lakh in salary and a lump sum amount of Rs 10-12 lakh on completion of tenure, besides other benefits.

Unveiling the scheme on Tuesday, the government said youth in the age group of 17-and-a-half to 21 years would be inducted for a four-year term, while 25 per cent of the recruits would be retained for regular service. The maximum age limit was raised to 23 years on Thursday.
